The Bread and Butter of CSS: Securing the Rhythm of Jewish Life

We often focus on the large events with a huge turnout, but so much of Jewish life is hyperlocal, small organizations and groups. It's not just about a massive event you're paying to go to; it's also about the small, meaningful impact—the community showing it still cares about you, and CSS will be there to protect you no matter what." –Adi Porat, CSS Associate Director of Training,

While large-scale events often capture headlines, the core of CSS's work lies in securing the everyday, hyperlocal rhythm of Jewish life—the small, quiet gatherings that happen weekly across the country.

This commitment to routine, sustained protection is exemplified by recent requests like the one from B'nai B'rith International. Just before the High Holidays, B'nai B'rith organized a small, intimate gathering at their offices to pack sweets and care packages for Holocaust survivors. Concerned about the current climate, they requested CSS support to ensure the safety of this meaningful act of remembrance.

This quiet consistency is the true "bread and butter" of CSS:

  • Synagogue Protection: Our vast network of volunteer teams covers their own synagogues every week, demonstrating our capacity to protect the small and quiet.
  • Sustained Dedication: Our success isn't built on huge headlines, but on the enduring commitment of volunteers who, despite being tired or having complex personal lives, put aside their concerns because they understand the imperative of security. This work is done reliably, every week, ensuring the Jewish community can gather and connect safely in all spaces.
